Review: The Dressmaker

The DressmakerThe Dressmaker by Rosalie Ham

My rating: 2 of 5 stars

MY EXPERIENCE WITH THE BOOK:
I listened to this book during my commute yesterday, and I was very ill. This book was dull and petty, and strangely (unexpectedly) perverted. I don’t know what I was expecting. If you love The Devil Wears Prada, you’re going to find this equally valuable to read.

CHARACTERS/DYNAMICS:
Mad Molly was the only reason I kept listening to this book. She was endearing and heart-felt.

PLOT:
Very vague, and thankfully there’s a movie trailer to help me picture this country-bumpkin of a town.

STRUCTURE:
Certainly stretched out. Too dull.

THEMES:
– Transgenderism
– Fashion
– Death
– Revenge

THE ENDING:
Bittersweet and suddenly unfulfilling.

IMPACT:
I now know I’m not completely ‘into’ adult novels just yet…
