Review: Dividing Eden

Dividing Eden (Dividing Eden, #1)Dividing Eden by Joelle Charbonneau

My rating: 2 of 5 stars

2.5/5 Stars.

MY EXPERIENCE WITH THE BOOK:
I just want to say: this book isn’t bad! I simply didn’t care for the characters, and it felt too much like a play. It was an interesting story, but was set in the wrong medium.

CHARACTERS/DYNAMICS:
Literally gave 0 craps about the main protag/antag, all I want to note here is if you enjoy Shakespeare’s portrayal of women (especially Lady Macbeth and Lady Hamlet), then I HIGHLY SUGGEST you read this.

PLOT:
Pretty much Shakespeare in a clusterf*ck of “YA”.

THEMES:
*pastes Hamlet and Macbeth analysis from high school*

QUOTES:

’hey I’m a woman; the source of all evil. Sin, bruh.’

— not an actual quote, but a decent summary of this book.

THE ENDING:
Wow the good guy ended up being the bad guy. What a shocker.

Kind of reminded me of the ending to the Wrath and the Dawn, actually. It’s left on a cliffhanger and the part we were all waiting for (aka content) is in the final part of the duology. Kk cool.

IMPACT:
Mmmmm I’m reminded AGAIN how much I don’t like Harper Teen YA fantasy.
