Review: Under a Painted Sky

Under a Painted SkyUnder a Painted Sky by Stacey Lee

My rating: 2 of 5 stars

MY EXPERIENCE WITH THE BOOK:
I didn’t really know what I was heading into when I read this book. I thought the way Lee writes southern accents to be amusing- until it started to sound like Huckleberry Finn. That sort of incomprehensible jibber jabber? Yes, so that worsened the rating for this book FOR ME.

CHARACTERS/DYNAMICS:
I didn’t realise how Christian related this book was, and I didn’t like it (I didn’t sign up for any religious thinking) oop.

PLOT:
Addresses prejudice well! But just like TKAMB, it gets you down. At least, it gets ME down. And I don’t want to read any further.

QUOTES:

“If you cannot be brave, then imagine you are someone else who is.”

“Maybe life just tastes sweeter after you’ve licked death.”

“I think God does an okay job evening things out with his people. Sure, some folks draw a bad lot. But the average person has about the same amount of tricks and troubles.”

I HATE the mentality for this final quote for so many reasons. Ugh!!!
